As a PhD student in media studies at the University of Chicago, I am interested in information and communication systems. Currently, my primary research interest is video evidence in US law courts, and how our understanding of what motion picture evidence can show has changed since the early 20th century.

I work as a freelance writer, videographer, and archival media researcher.

I am currently a reporting fellow with City Bureau, a civic journalism lab based in Woodlawn, Chicago.

Prior to starting graduate school, I was a production assistant at WBEZ Chicago's Every Other Hour, a series about gun violence in Chicago.

I am Cuban American, and traveled to Cuba as a 2016 Tu Cuba fellow with the CubaOne Foundation.
